Abstract

Invigilation process is an important activity in almost all educational institutions. Administrative department has to ensure that the process of assigning invigilator must be done efficiently in order to reduce problems. Preparing invigilator scheduling is challenging, tedious and time consuming for the exam unit. Usually the staff in charge needs to prepare the invigilator schedule about 3-4 weeks manually by using spreadsheet software in order to prepare future invigilation schedule. Advancement of the technologies could store all the data and information efficiently in computer databases. The arising issue is on how the current technology would help the staff to automatically assign invigilator schedule for each semester without the concern of repetition and duplication even when the number of invigilators increases or decreases. This paper describes the usage of shuffling algorithm in an Automatic Assigning Invigilator Timetable Scheduling System as a randomization technique for assigning invigilator. The results indicate shuffling algorithm could be used to overcome the duplication process of assigning invigilator when the process is done manually.
